Marcus Books Drowning From Neglect

Marcus-Books.jpgThe Post stopped by Marcus Books during the last storm to inquire about any progress on the flooding in front of the book store. Pedestrians were being forced into the car lane to proceed north past the store and there was considerable foot traffic. Cars and buses were forced to veer into the center lane on MLK in order to miss the pedestrians.
Blanche Richardson said Oakland City Councilwoman Nancy Nadel had come by the store after reading about the situation in The Post. “She expressed anger about the situation and said she would be contacting Jane Brunner’s office. City workmen came shortly thereafter, equipped to clean the drain, not realizing that there is NO drain. They said they would inform the appropriate city office. It has now been two weeks since we have heard anything,” reports owner Richardson.
