Sacramento – The California State Assembly will honor the McClymond’s High School boy’s basketball team on their state championship and perfect 32-0 season on Monday, May 12th at 9:30am.”This was an outstanding accomplishment for this team. The boys worked incredibly hard throughout the season, and their victory is an historic point of pride for the school and the community,” Assemblymember Sandré R. Swanson (D-Oakland) stated.
In addition, Assemblymember Swanson will present a resolution to commemorate this outstanding accomplishment to the team at the beginning of session. Coach Dwight Nathaniel, who lead the team to victory, will also receive special recognition on his retirement after 13 years of service.
The team defeated Dominguez high school of Compton in March for the boy’s Division I State Championship. This is McClymond’s first state title and also the first time a perfect season has occurred since the formation of the California Interscholastic Federation.
After the ceremony, there will be a special reception for the team at the Capitol, followed by a ceremony in the Senate also recognizing the team as state champions.
