Women’s Day at Bethel AMEC

PaulaMcGeemug.jpgThe public is invited  to celebrate Women’s Day with the Women of Bethel AME Church, Rev. J. Edgar Boyd, Senior Pastor on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at both the 8am and 11am Worship Services.  Bethel AME Church is located at 916 Laguna St., San Francisco, CA.
The focus is “God?s Women of Ages Bridging The Gap As We Walk In Love Paving The Way” (Scripture reference: Deuteronomy 4: 9-10).  Come and hear the dynamic speakers of the day as each of us affirm and gain knowledge on how we can each contribute to bridging the gap.
Ms. Monique Woodford, speaker for the 8am Worship Service, is a health advocate, youth leader, lifelong learner and Vessel of God.  She works professionally with the Network for a Healthy California-Bay Area Region through the County of Santa Clara Public Health Dept.  In her position as Bay Area Region-African American Campaign Coordinator for six counties her responsibilities include sharing nutrition and physical activity information, developing partnerships and coordinating activities to improve the health of the African American community.  Woodford is the 3rd Vice President of NCNW-Golden Gate Section and was awarded “Youth Leader of the Year” award in 2007.  She currently coordinates the section’s charter youth group.
Rev. Paula McGee, speaker for the 11am Worship service is a dynamic preacher, writer and inspirational speaker.  Her vision is to “inspire others to recognize, accept and fulfill their call to greatness”.  She is a life coach  inspiring and motivating people of all ages to be their very best.
She is a native of Flint,  Michigan where she and her twin sister Pam won two state championships in basketball at Northern High School.  Highly recruited, she and her sister chose University of Southern California, where they teamed up with Cheryl Miller to win back to back National Championships in 1983 and 1984.  After college, she pursued her professional career in basketball which she ended to answer her life’s calling to preach.
