Charles Brown’s Homegoing Celebration

Charles Augustus Brown was born on February 7, 1936 to Austin Brown and Viola Wharton in New York , New York . He moved to Oakland , California in 1946 and attended Cole School and Hoover Junior High School .  In 1954, he was a member of the first class graduate from the “new” McClymonds High School . In 1954, Charles enlisted in the army and served in the Korean War; he was honorably discharged in 1957.
Children were very important to Charles and he supported various charities throughout his life that supported their wellbeing, especially those focused on education and nutrition. He was interested in documentaries and books about World War II and thoroughly enjoyed art and jazz.  God and family were central components in Charles’ life and though he could not attend church services, he would regularly watch his favorite television ministers John Cherry, Joyce Meyer and Dr. Charles Stanley.
Charles passed away July 5th, at the age of 74. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jessie; daughter, Ramona; son, Romel; grandsons, Brandon and Romel Jr.; siblings, Vernon , Cynthia, Clyde , Dave and Easter; aunt, Pauline; and a host of other family and friends
