Rev. Jesse Mason Jr. was recently installed as the senior pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Richmond. Excited and on fire for God, Mason is ready to strengthen and unify  the hearts his congregation  so that the church can be a blessing to the Richmond community
“I count it a blessing and a privilege in being called to Pastor an historic church. It has been the landmark in Richmond for nearly 58 years. As Pastor, I want everyone to know how much they matter to the body of Christ and I really focusing on establishing unity because united we stand divided we fall,” said Rev. Mason
Mason, a native of Demopolis, Alabama, relocated to Richmond at the age of five. He became an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ into his life when he was eleven years old.
After graduating from Harry Ells High School he attended Contra Costa Community College and then went on to establish his own business, Mason Janitorial Service. It wasn’t until 1994 that he felt the holy spirit calling him to serve within in the church. As he became a licensed minister, Rev. Mason furthered his education and obtained a Master’s and Doctorate of Divinity from Sacramento Theological Divinity Seminary and Bible College.
Now, as the Senior Pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Mason is ready to prepare his congregation to not only serve within the church walls but to a support to the residents of Richmond.
“My ultimate plan is to bring the members together so that we can go out into the community. Our youth are in dire need of structure, training and a lot of love,” said Rev. Mason. “ I want to institute some training classes for our young people entitled ‘Your Image is Everything’ to help them through their challenges.”
Rev. Mason looks forward to fulfilling his responsibilities to MMBC. He is extremely grateful for his wife of more than thirty years, Alexandria Mason and his two children, Jason and Jessica.
