Martha Brown Passes Torch to Daughter

Pastor Frank Darby, Jr., pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, presents a plaque to Martha J. Brown for 25 years of service as the Church Clerk. Mrs. Brown retired from her position on May 1, 2011. She also served as President of the Bethel Bible Class for 39 years. She moved to California from Indiana in 1971, where she served as Secretary at the Union Baptist Church of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Neola Crosby, Martha Brown’s daughter and 25-year assistant, is Bethel’s new Church Clerk.

Mrs. Brown, as Founder and Chairperson of the Dr. Herbert Guice Christian Academy Grandparents Club, initiated the Adopt-a-Child Program for supporters to donate up to 50% of tuitions for students.

During the past 30 years, she has been educating children, as the owner/operator of Brown’s Preschool and Childcare. She says she and her daughter have dedicated their lives to help “train children in the ways they should go so as they become adults they will not depart.”
