Youth Worship With Praise Dancing

By Imani Packwood-Scott

Praise dancing is a channel used, mainly by youth, to worship God. I am humbled to be a member of The Faith Empowerment Praise Dancers (FEPD) under the leadership of Coordinator Minster Cheron Mize. At the age of 2, my parents would find me dancing to Kirk Franklin in the living room every Sunday morning before attending church services.

I joined The FAME Youth Praise Dance Team under the leadership of Stacey Thompson. I was taught the fundamentals of dance, sacrifice, hard work and dedication.

It is very important to stay in the spirit when you deliver Gods message through dance, because it has the power to transform and save lives. Praise dancing is a life changing ministry and on Sunday July 24th, we have been blessed to worship through dance at the Black Expo main stage at 11:30am during the Gospel Showcase. My father, David Scott will be performing his Christian Comedy sketches between our performances. I will be performing with another Oakland Post intern, Miracle Chavis, and the F.E.P.D.

Active members of T.O.L.E.M, who regularly attend bible study at 106219 MacArthur Blvd. in Oakland, can join F.E.P.D.
