The Russell family measures the quality of their life by the milestones they achieved. Their church, The Southside Church of Christ, located at 1501 Florida Avenue, Richmond, sponsored a dinner for 150 to celebrate the three goals or milestones set by Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Russell.

The dinner, catered by CJ’s Bar-B-Q, was held Saturday, August 20, at the Hilltop Green Recreation Center.

The Russells migrated to Richmond from Morton, Mississippi. They were baptized by Bro. F.F. Carson in 1951. The three milestone goals they set were:

• To celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary on December 9, 2011.

• To celebrate Mr. Russell’s 90th birthday, recently.

• To work side by side in the church for 50 years. Mr. Russell is the oldest, active male in the congregation.

The Russell’s seven children who live in the bay area include: Lottie Fleming, Woodrow Russell, Jr., Leotis Russell, Sharon Moore, Leon Russell, Marcia Brown, and Robyn Butler. They have eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
