The historic Williams Chapel Baptist Church has chosen Reverend Dr. Kenneth J.L. Anderson as its new pastor to succeed Dr. Henry L. Hudson, who retired September 25 after serving 29 years as the fifth Pastor in the church’s 72 year history.
Rev. Anderson is the nephew of the late Reverend Carl J. Anderson, who pastored Oakland’s St. John Baptist Church. Rev. Kenneth J.L. Anderson, in his 20’s, will be among the youngest Pastors in Oakland.
Deacon Melvin Richardson, who serves as General Chairman, said Pastor Anderson “has been a big asset to our church already.”
Rev. Anderson said, “As one of Oakland’s youngest pastors, I’m forever grateful to the Lord for all his blessings. I just simply want to give the best service possible to the lord and the congregation.”
Williams Chapel Baptist Church, located at 1410 10th Avenue, Oakland, will hold the Installation Services of its new Pastor, Rev. Kenneth J.L. Anderson Sunday, October 30th.
Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. J Alfred Smith, Sr. of the Allen Temple Baptist Church will deliver the Gospel Message during the Morning Worship Service. Pastor Anthony Gilmore of the Bethel Community Church, Fairfield, California, will deliver the Installation Sermon at 3:00 p.m. Special commendations will be presented by Rev. Joe Smith, President of the Bay Cities Baptist Ministers Union; Pat Kernighan, Oakland City Councilmember and other Oakland City representatives.
