Some members of the Sharpe family missed their family reunion in Dermott Arkansas this past August, so a west coast tribute was held on Sunday, September 25th at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  The Sharpe family came together for a musical tribute and what a talented family! Every generation made a contribution; children, teens and adults, with Elvernetta Henderson on the piano and DeBorah Sharpe providing a moving sketch of Harriett Tubman, then finishing with a song.  Every member of the family sang and played musical instruments proving that the fruit does not fall far from the tree.
The family came together to acknowledge their elders as well as their deceased ancestors represented by the presentation of white flowers at the altar.  Deaconess Gloria Johnson, the Mistress of Ceremonies, introduced Pastor Charles S. Jackson who welcomed the family to the City of Richmond and to Mt. Carmel for their Family Musical Tribute.
Evangelist Cynthia Harris, a member of the Sharpe family and a Minister at the St. John Baptist church in Richmond, preached a moving sermon on “faith” taken from Hebrews 11:1, then sang a song that stirred the hearts of everyone in attendance. After the musical tribute, the family met at the home of Deaconess Gloria Dean Johnson for dinner.
